AN EVENING WITH RUGBY LEGENDS
Rugby league legend Barrie “Baz” McDermott was joined by Danny Buderus, Terry O’Connor, and Adrian Morley as hosts for an evening of generous fundraising, celebration, and entertainment.
The star-studded event, sponsored by The Good Racing Company, took place at Thornhill Trojans Rugby League Club, with all proceeds from table sales and auction donations going to the Club’s development fund.
Barrie, Danny, Terry and Adrian’s legendary tags are more than justified. Together, they’ve won almost every collective and individual award available in the world of professional rugby league.
Guests were treated to some never-heard-before stories from the players’ rugby days, giving everyone fantastic insight into the triumphant highs (and a few short-lived lows) of rugby league.
A delicious buffet followed a meet-and-greet session, photo opportunities and shirt signings. Attendees were also invited to ask the former players questions, in which they didn’t hold back, resulting in a fun-filled evening of belly laughter and unforgettable moments.
There was no holding back at the auction, too – from either side. Guests were bidding generously for top prizes, donated by the players. Prizes included shirts from Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Newcastle Knights and Great Britain national rugby league team, with all funds raised going directly to Thornhill Trojans.
As proud sponsors of the event, The Good Racing Company have strong ties with the rugby league. We’ve worked closely with Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow to raise over £100,000 for Motor Neurone Disease Association, as part of our innovative good causes horse racing club.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Barrie, Danny, Terry and Adrian for attending this incredible fundraising evening and for their big-hearted donations. Another special thank you to Thornhill Trojans Rugby League Club for hosting the event. We hope the proceeds from the evening help to make a big difference in the Club’s development.
