BEEP BEEP BURROW HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING

It’s a new year, and we’re literally hitting the ground running. Since Beep Beep joined The Good Racing Co stable, the team at Highbeck Lodge have been priming him and scouting for the perfect race for his debut. And what a better race than the Sky Bet Good Luck Beep Beep Burrow National Hunt Flat Race (Class 5) on the 10th January. Yes, we’re delighted to announce that the race has been officially named after our very own, so it really is good luck Beep Beep Burrow!

The race will take place at Doncaster racecourse at 3:30pm. The distance of the race spans over 2 miles and half a furlong, and we’ll see 4/6 year olds maiden horses take to the track and race for their first win. It’s all up for grabs with a £4800 prize pot which will be distributed between the top 5.

LOOKING GOOD IN TRAINING

Trainer Jedd O’Keeffe reports that Beep Beep Burrow is working extremely well and everyone is really pleased with his progress. We also believe that the racecourse will really suit his running style.

PLANNING FOR A POSITIVE DEBUT

Beep Beep Burrow is bred to jump hurdles (smaller obstacles) and fences (larger obstacles). However, as it’s his debut, we’re easing him in with a flat race (meaning no hurdles or fences). We want to help him gain experience of being on a racecourse, and thoroughly enjoy his first ever race.

A PROMISING RACECOURSE

Doncaster’s course is left-handed (meaning it curves round to the left), essentially flat, and galloping (meaning wider, sweeping bends and a long straight). It’s very well-draining, with conditions favouring speedier horses, despite its galloping nature. As such, it’s said to be one of the country’s fairest courses.

Mick Fitzgerald, the former Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning jockey, in his At The Races course comments, notes:

“It always pays to sit comfy on a horse at Doncaster, so, ideally, you want one that travels easily for you. If you find yourself pushing along turning into the back straight, you often get further and further behind those going better than you are. That’s especially true when the ground is quick and it’s fair to say you can afford to be a bit more patient when there’s some ease underfoot.”

DECLARATIONS

We’re so excited to see Beep Beep Burrow make his debut and we’re hoping for some good weather and decent ground. As usual in horseracing, declaration won’t be confirmed until 48 hours before the race. But stay tuned across our social and see how Beep Beep Burrow fares.
