Go Go Chicago
Supporting Racing Welfare & Racing to School

Go Go Chicago is a gelding by a highly successful stallion, Shirocco, who has bred many famous winners, including Annie Power (a 5-time Group 1 winner), Lac Fontana, Minella Rocco, Third Wind and Silver Hallmark.
A local primary school was invited to the O’Brien & McPherson yard to meet him and enter a competition to find him a suitable name. ‘Go Go Chicago’ came out on top, a fitting namesake to his mum, Chicago Vic.
In 2020/21, Shirocco enjoyed a career-best season and was responsible for 12 individual black-type winners. Go Go Chicago is a rising 5 year old (foaled April 15th 2017) and has been in training with Fergal O’Brien for over 12 months. Everyone is delighted with his progress.

Racing Welfare
Racing Welfare is a registered charity supporting the workforce of British horseracing. They offer professional guidance and practical help to the stud, stable and racecourse staff whose dedication is vital for the wellbeing of racing.
Their work aims to help people, from recruitment to retirement, to thrive in day-to-day life and through a range of life’s challenges by providing support with mental and physical health, money matters, housing, retirement, careers and much more. In 2021 alone, they provided almost 18,500 instances of support to people within the industry.
Racing to School
Racing to School is a registered education charity that inspires young minds through the provision of free, interactive, and healthy outdoor educational events for schools, staged at a variety of racing venues.
The charity works with young people from all backgrounds across Great Britain, including children with special educational needs and those from inner city, rural and deprived areas.
Over 200,000 young people have been introduced to horseracing through their racecourse days, stud and trainer’s yard visits. Their staff includes former jockeys who have retrained to develop their second careers.
